Any chance the chicken shuttle will be heading from Orem to Ephraim?
Sundance, that does look like a French Black Copper Marans egg.....they are HARD to hatch, lots of fluid and you do have to get them to evaporate through that hard thick shell. I tried 6 and they flopped then I asked the breeder, she said she dry incubates them all the way until just before hatch....I tried that with 6 more and got 2 to hatch. I had 4 live chicks that time but two still drowned. If I go get more eggs from her I will let you know and get some for you too, probably not until spring though. But Sphinx will have some by thenAnd Blujems here in Cache Valley got some of the birds from QCU to breed and will hopefully have some eggs in the Spring too. They are gorgeous aren't they? That started a whole new obsession for me after I set my eyes on those eggs
From what I have seen the birds are extremely friendly and sweet too, I have 5 out there now and they all are little lap chickens and very well behaved.![]()
ok I was hoping that someone had these now to go in with the duncle eggs I;m getting
Alright, I need some help. For those of you who free range your chickens, how do you round them up when it's time to put everyone away? I let mine out every day, but even though I try to be gentle and careful with them, they seem to think it's funny to run and hide whenever I'm near. I'm sick of it. I just know that one of these days, someone's dog is going to get to them before I can catch them.
