Sundancen I wish I lived close then I would head on over to see you. You will start to get better now. I hope you won't be they long.
Sasha I was told lemon, lavender, and peppermint essential oils are good for allergies? How do you take them? Do you know?

Ugh, Sundance, I am so sorry you're holed up in the hospital. I know I'm stuck in Davis county tomorrow with work AND my daughter's cast comes off tomorrow. If you're still locked up on Wed or Thur, I may come down and visit you though. Hopefully you'll get released sooner than that. Feel better soon.

Hattie, a good, natural way to build natural immunity for allergies (of the plant sort) is to buy locally made, raw honey and eat a tablespoon or two a day. The honey will be infused with whatever you're allergic to, and it kind of helps you build a tolerance.

Lisa, I think it'd be hilarious if you switched chickens, but I'm a terrible influence.

Cynthia, I'm so jealous you got to meet SpeckledHens. She's on my list of people I want to meet.

We are seriously considering buying a meat cow. Our neighbor has been renting pasture space to a guy who buys day old cows, keeps them til they're weaned, then sells them (he does keep a few to grow out and sell). He brought in some short horns today that are just gorgeous, and we're tempted to go in on it with dh's sister. I think it'd be a good experience for us.

Wow, check out Luara's...SpeckledHills site for chicken health!

https://sites.google.com/a/poultrypedia.com/poultrypedia/tips-for-chicken-coops

She does a great job on this site. She is a fun gal to talk to for sure! She cares a lot about chickens..like us! :) She says she has a real cute little coop, and I told her, she better get on here and post a picture of her coop and birds!
Hear that SpeckledHills?

Cynthia, I don't see bright blue words? I wonder if you have some spyware that is making clickable/searchable links on all of your web pages?

Sphinx I had heard that honey was a good thing to try. Problem is I can't find any local honey until the end of August or the first of September. :/ My allergies this year have been such a pain! I'll keep searching for some local honey. Someone has to have some here. A cow would be great. We did that with my sister a few years ago. They had the land and they took care of it. Two other siblings went in on it too. Was the cute cow going into your backyard that you posted a picture of a while back one of those cows? Sound fun to me. Would it be a milking cow or meat cow?

That's exactly what they are! Click on them, they take you to a site about that particular word..like essential oils in auntie's post. How do I get rid of that? spyware??

Red, what an awful thing about your turkey! This whole year is just a big trial for you, isn't it?

I'm so sorry.

I really, truly do not mean this in any kind of condescending way, but yes, you have not idea the last year of my life has been. I have to just laugh when someone tries to tell me that I don't ever want to experience (Hades) The truth is, I've been through it and back a couple of times, already.

Got more info on the doggies today, sort of. The two that killed the turkey this morning were Huskies or something. Well, turns out that in the afternoon, a totally different dog decided to get into the yard and terrorize the chickens. I really wish I was making this up. It's unbelievable. The good news is, we didn't actually lose any birds this time, although my EE roo has lost his pride and dignity. His bum is now very bare with a sad little feather left where his tail was. He's okay, just humiliated. The dog got hauled to the pound.

I think you can burn some oil in one of those incense burners, though you may need to dilute it first. Sasha, want to correct me on this one?

I like lavender and mint in herbal tea when I have it, but that's from dried buds or leaves that I steep in the hot water.
