Utah!

wgidir, if you have pictures of your babies, try putting them up on the 'What Breed or Gender Is This?' section of the forums. Lots of helpful people there that can help you figure out what you have. And, you could also put pictures up on here. We love pictures, anyway, and we'd be happy to help

Yaaay, my turkey poult is fitting in so much better! I took him out after work yesterday and was holding him until he fell asleep. The BR chicks didn't like that. They started crying when he was gone, and when I put him back in, they settled right down. They all stay bunched up in one group now. Hooray!

That is kind of you to offer but 17 may take quite a bit of time. I do have some pictures but I don't know if they will be the right angles. I can start with a few and thank all in advance. Let me know if this works or should I get individual pictures. Whew!

Hmm! That's a very lovely flock you have there. Looks like Red Sex-link (girl), a couple of Silkies, Barred Rock (looks girly), an Easter Egger, I believe (girl), Rhode Island Red (girl I think) Lakenvelder? (girl), and is that a Blue Andalusian? I don't dare make a call on the black ones right now. My head is fuzzy from a lack of sleep, heh

Edit: At least one of those black ones is a Black Sex-link. Definite girls on those Sex-links. If they were boys, they'd have way different coloring

I agree with Red, most look like girls, no Obvious boys, but the combs are hard to see in the pics. I will add that I see Australorp in with a definite black sex link (the one with the gold around the neck, the solids look australorp) also....and it looks like the back end of a Buff Orpington (solid golden one) on the far left there....the blue could be blue wyandottes? The last pic looks like a golden sex link but there is a lot more white on the back 1/2 of it....than most I have seen anyway. The comb looks a bit questionable on that one because it is so young.... the red ones look they might even be RIR, but they are more reddish like red sex link.....could be either one.....hard to tell for sure with the lighting in the pic. The gold with black on them could be hatchery EE's, it would depend on how the faces look, would need to see if they have muffs :)

Cute flock!

Aren't those nice looking babies! This last one is a sex link..will lay like a laying machine. The one with the stripes going sideways, white and black, is a barred rock..I'm guessing that two of the blacks are Australorps..not sure about the one with the spot on the head, I see a buff orpington, the buff that isn't fluffy...then three silkies..they make me smile. and, not sure about the blues..EE? There is an EE in there, the gold with black. A couple of Rhoad Island Reds.. Pretty flock. :)

Shaking finger at the screen! You shouldn't be going anywhere young lady! Still a bit weak aren't you? And, what about that broken rib? Why are you coming to Orem?

What kind of chick is it?

My baby just opened it's eyes for the longest time yet. Starting to hold it's head up longer too. It has a nice big bowtie, some are pretty small.

I have to go to Orem to my vet friend to pick up my kittens she has been tending for me. I have some frizzle Americanas, I was shocked when I got home and saw that alot of the full size chicks had frizzled. The one sizzle that hatched is going frizzle and I have some olive eggers. I am so excited to get such a variety of birds. Just thrilled.

I am home,

They decided that the smoke had got my asthma going then the chill in Alaska got my pheumonia working and it just took time and drugs to get better, My rib is still sore but not as much as it has been, I'm soooo excited about my new chicks and how they look. My kitties were excatic to see me and the dogs were happy to. Ed brought one of the dogs to the hospital yesterday to see me.

Yay Sundance!!!

Wgidir... pretty birds, I agree with the above guesses, and looks like a bunch of pullets, usually they are from the feed stores, but if there's a few you're really not sure of, a pic of the face and tail is helpful, at this age, they will probably be getting saddle feathers, the cockerels I had at this age were even trying to mate with my older hens, and they hatched out last part of April...

Howdy! I got my chicks in May from IFA and was very adventerous because it was my very first time with chickens. My family and I built our own hen house and pen which was a feat because growing up I never saw my Dad with a screwdriver or hammer in his hand! I live on BYC for knowledge but should have done it before I got my chicks because now I have 17 with 9 different breeds. The girl told me I would lose 1/2 to 1/3 but so far so good - nada. Nine different breeds that I have to try to sex now. Is the best thing just to go breed by breed and look them up on here?

Well good for you. Where in SLC are you located? If I'm out and about I'll come take a look see

The two dark pullets are RIR They look pullett The two little fluffy buff are buff silkies The blues look like langshams. The bottom one looks like a red sex link or comet

Wow, such help you guys are! I went out for my chicken time a bit ago and tried looking at them a bit more. I am afraid that one of the silkies is probably a roo. Such a sad day! I have a black, two golden, and one white silkie and this one looks way different than the others. My friend, Gus, came by to help rustle them up so I could get a closer picture:

This is another one I am a bit concerned about:

I sure hope this one is not a roo. It is one of my favourites!
