Utah!

I am finally back from my quick trip to Seattle. I have decided to thin my flock so I can keep some of the chicks I am hatching. I will be selling some young pullets that are laying or will be laying very soon. I have a mottled Java, a Barnvelder. a bard rock. I have a red sex link that is laying beautiful brown eggs. I have 3 beautiful Easter egger chicks whose dad is a lavender Americana. The are beautiful babies black with big fluffy cheecks and butts. I'll try to get some pictures but am really busy this week. leaving Thursday Morning for Columbus Ohio. Big cat show, I'll be back Sunday night.

Lisa, as usual, you are super silly!!

Madchicken, I agree with everybody saying to figure out which hen it is doing the picking... if you don't want to re-home it, I've had it help when you remove the suspect hen for several days then put her back in, that can change up the pecking order and also give your picked on hen time to heal up good and be with everybody else before putting meany back in, just shakes things up a bit and helps them settle down.. I had luck with that in the past...

Cynthia, it's my oldest going to 1st grade=) My youngest is 15 months old, sheesh!! But, we're late bloomers... my friends from high school have kiddos in high school!! DH is about 7 1/2 years older and his friends have kiddos in college, crazy, but that's the way our life went, we did it backwards... Got married late, and when no kiddos came for a few years, we just played and traveled until they decided to join us, but it's all good, I would have been a TERRIBLE mother if I'd started in my early 20's=) Although pregnancy was definintely not an easy task in my 30's, but maybe that's just me!

Cynthia, thanks for the info on "greasing" your chicken. :) Fun pictures! Elvis is a pretty girl (have you renamed her?) but that one picture of her eyeball showing is pretty funny. Well timed shot!

Red, I'm sorry about your missing chickens. :( Like you need any more stress this year, right?

Lisa, I'm glad you found some fun stuff at the re-store. Where is it located? I think I need to take a trip!

Daloorashens, would you hate me if I told you I LOL'd about your black bantam giving you fits of naughtiness? ;)

Sundancen, welcome back!

My job interview went very well yesterday. They really put interviewers on the spot! I had to go out and sell an obedience class to a customer. But I did it, no problem. I think they were impressed with me and my knowledge/background with animals, and said to expect a call back for a 2nd interview with the GM on Tuesday or Wednesday. :)

Congrats on you interview. Which Petmart is it? My daughter was a manager at the Petsmart on Redwood road until she got married and had children.

Crossing fingers for you!

So I just candled my 4 little eggs and they are all still hanging in there. Lock down is tomorrow night! Getting pretty excited. The new chicks will help with the missing of the 6 little ones I've had with the broody's. Whittni will be taking them this Thursday.

That's good news!

Sasha, congrats on doing so well - and on the spot! You go girl.

Cynthia, remember that Welsummer chick I got form you a while back? She hopped up into my mom's lap yesterday without any invitation and just stood there and let my mom pet and love her for a minute. It made me really happy to see, since I got her for my mom

Good luck with your cat show, Sundance! I'm sure they'll do great.

There is definitely something weird going on with my coop. Yesterday I let my "big girls" out so that I could clean out their coop. The patridge rock I got from Cynthia didn't seem to be quite as energetic as the rest, but she did go out and was scratching around with everyone. She also seemed to be a bit fluffed up and just not quite acting right. Today, her comb seems very pale, and she doesn't come running with everyone else when I come out there, she just hangs out in the shade under the coop. She also had no interest in the pears I tossed out there. So, this is three birds I've had something happen with. However, there's been 2+ weeks between incidents. If it was a disease, wouldn't it make more sense for them to get sick, one right after the other? Why the gap? What in the world is going on?!
