Utah!

Baby chicks, and pictures of Austin on his way to the MTC, and the drop off...whew..picture heavy..of course!

Sphinx, here is my partridge, starting to get more color like they do

On our way, he smiled all morning and afternoon

It rained this morning, but was only a sprinkle when we went to the Temple to get some
pictures before drop off. Beautiful day with the fall colors and the clouds.

The line actually wasn't too bad. We were telling each other we loved you all the way
to the drop off. :)

Austin was laughing at me because the young man said I could get out and take more
pictures..I had already taken oodles at home, at the Temple, and then here.

This is the young man that helped Austin with his bags..cute young man

See you in two years Austin. I know that he will make a great missionary! :))

Wow, that's frustrating... I know, I'm a little nervous about it, but I think I have to take the risk to get a variety of the breeds I want to keep... Watching the swap I think I'm getting them for decent prices, too, considering the kind of eggs they are...

oh, and love the duck pics!!!

FYI Lisa, I do work next weekend (Nov 3-4) It kind of drives me crazy, I really don't work that much, I'm part-time and work 6 shifts/month, but somehow those days always fall inconveniently, no matter how hard I try to arrange them, sheesh!

wHERE DO YOU FIND THE SWAP

Great pictures, Cynthia. Austin is going to have a great two years! And those chickies made me melt

My two little peepers I got from Hattie not too long ago are just starting to go "bawk bawk" instead of "cheep cheep". I'm going to miss the peeping sounds

It always puts me at ease and cheers me up to hear that cheeping noise. Maybe if I have room in the flock next year (yeah, right) I'll be able to have some more cheepers.

Hattie, glad your silkie is hanging in there. She is soooooo beautiful If we could just find someone going to St George, I'd get eggs to you. They'd be mutts most likely, but they'd either be half BCM or Cream Legbar (I don't think the polish is getting any action).

Sierra, your ducks are very cute. You guys really did get a lot of snow.

Wow Lisa, homemade bread for the birds? I feel so inadequate. I can't believe that EE roo managed to hide it from you for 7 months. Hormones got in the way though. Isn't that the way it always goes?

Cynthia, your son is so handsome, and he looks so excited to begin his adventure! Remind me what kind of chicks your yellow ones are? Your partridge looks almost identical to mine. I'll take new pictures of it in the morning for comparison. How do you feel about the new(ish) drop off procedure? I liked the little program they used to do.

Sundance, I think you go to this page and just pop in on one of the conversation threads, plus put something in your signature/member page: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/8/chickenstocks-shows-meet-ups

Thank you Sphinx..we think he's handsome. :) The drop off wasn't as bad as what I thought it was going to be. No, there isn't an orientation anymore, but I had heard that you just let him out, he gets help with the bags and off they go. Well, this young man came to open my door first! I got out for more pictures..lol..that's why Austin is laughing in that picture standing in front of the MTC building...oh boy, mom gets to take more pictures!
He is excited, and admitted he was a little nervous..a couple of nights ago. Nervous, but ready! :))
Those yellow babies are the cinnamon sussex. The guy called me from California when I asked him a question about the difference in coloring. I knew I had a chance of getting the light sussex along with the cinnamon..like when you buy splits for the coronation sussex. Well, he says it sounds like I got a few cinnamons! I hadn't sent pictures yet. I was already seeing the black in some of the little wing tips..that would be the light..but the ones that are still pink..cinnamon! Yaay. They/his, are so pretty. He was sure happy about his breeding this color! I want to keep one of each color. Those light sussex really look a lot like the Delaware. To me.

Oh my goodness Cynthia. I was so excited to see the chickie pics, so so cute, scrolling down and there was Austin. Then I was all teared up for you :(
When you wrote see you in two years Austin, I was at a full-on cry. You are so strong! And I am so happy for you,and sad all at the same time, that has got to be so tough.....but so joyous. He is such a cute kid, such a sweet family you have, I wish him all the best and he will be in my prayers for a very long time. Good luck Austin! And good luck Mom, trying to keep busy and not miss her baby too much!

Aww, thank you Lisa. It's true. I will be trying to keep busy. I said to Scott yesterday as I was packing up the incubators..what was I thinking? No Austin, no baby chicks at the same time. I have plenty that I have kept though..more than usual to watch. So, I am busy outside with them.
Thank you for the prayers. I will take them. You are such a tender hearted person, easy to tell ~ I can almost see you crying while looking at the pictures. I have many. I have already gone and looked at them again...several times. I know he will be kept busy, so hoping he isn't too home sick, when it hits him. He's a very tender hearted fellow too.

Well, the new Costco is open down here in Spanish Fork. We are going to check it out today. I think the club price is a bit higher than Sam's Club, the one we were with. Will see, it is closer! Don't have to go to Provo if we do this one..if it is as similar as Sam's Club. We liked Sam's.

Cynthia I thought of you all day yesterday. What a good looking young man he is. It is such a exciting happy time but also tugs at a mothers heart.

Thank you for the pictures they warmed my heart seeing them.
It will be such a change for you and your DH. I know because I have been dealing with this empty house since September. Well except for all the visitors but you know what I mean it just isn't the same.

Me and my DH have gotten even more attached to the chickens. We spend a lot of time hanging outside with them. The cold will change that I'm sure.

Red I never thanked you for offering to help me if only you lived close by. That really meant a lot to me to have you say that. It made me feel like I wasn't so alone in dealing with this sadness and worry. I think I am making raising chickens way to hard but I didn't realize you could get so attached to them.

Sphinx you are the sweetest to offer eggs. I have a breeder I'm waiting to here from on some more of her bantam wheaten Ameraucana eggs. She is waiting for fertility to go up. She had her chickens in shows and has just put them back together. So hopefully I will get some from her soon.

Lisa I think that is so funny you have a rooster! If it doesn't crow I'll take it! Hahaha my little banty's might not be to pleased with the idea though! At least they would be able to hatch out chicks EVERY SINGLE TIME THEY GO BROODY! Which by the way is 90 % of the time. Sheesh. They aren't even on eggs right now. Crazy birds. I love them!

Cynthia, I definitely prefer Costco, and not just for the business practices. We get the executive membership, which costs more, but you get a percentage back. Even on years when we don't buy any real big ticket items, we get about 80% of the membership fee back in the rebate check. If we buy tires, furniture or other big ticket items, it's even better.

Hattie, I've heard bantams can be notoriously broody. That would get inconvenient (and tempting, if one has fertile eggs). How's your silkie doing?

i agree on costco. we have been members for years. they have so many good products and such great prices too. we too have the executive membership and it pays for its self every year. its also a great place to buy gas for your car.
