Utah!

I have my wheat soaking..going to give this fodder thing a try. I really have a lot more wheat in there that I thought I would have, it grows..ooooohhhh......I also put some BOSS in there.
Tomorrow, I will put them in some plastic containers I saw on the fodder thread. Hope this works.

Alright guys i need help because I have no idea what is going on with my Silkie! She is still doing fine. Don't get me wrong I am thrilled about it but I can't figure out why she is so swollen and big bottomed. Could she have just gotten fat? She still hasn't laid an egg. She isn't molting. Maybe internal laying? She hasn't got any bigger or sicker. I really don't know what the deal is. Any ideas?
Sphinx sorry to here about your fizzle.
Red good luck hauling your turkeys to there new home. I'm sorry you won't be able to enjoy them anymore.

so is there an avian specialist you could take her to? If not perhaps you could have your vet contact one, It may be something that could be treated with an injection

Alright, so this totally made my night. A group of trick-or-treaters came up to the door not too long ago, and they were talking about the chickens and turkeys. They've walked by before when it's free range time for the birds. One of the girls said that she saw a peacock in another neighbor's yard. I asked her if she was sure, since peacocks are pretty loud and I haven't heard any. She wasn't sure. Cute kids, and fun to talk to, as well.

Picked the wheat up today. Was only about 500-600 lbs not 700 lbs. Also 100 Lbs lost due to a stupid mouse hole in two bag. Will it hurt my flock to eat wheat that a mouse has got into? There isn't any droppings in the wheat just a small hole in the bag. After all, their favorite thing to eat around the yard is bugs, earwigs, mill bugs, snails, spiders.... or should i give the 2 bags to the neighbor how has a pet sheep?

i think you would be fine, i mean after all it is common for chickens to eat mice.

No, when I looked outside this summer, there were mice running around in the run. Made me mad. Found the hole, put the hose down it, had it on the hardest spray, and sprayed away. I haven't seen the mice in there since, but, have seen a mouse come out from behind the fence, where the nursery hutch is, and just sit up and look at me. They are everywhere when you have chicken food out. The get in the coop, they get into their feed bowls. And Like Brad said, they eat the mice anyway. I saw a couple of mine playing tug of war with one a few weeks ago. I said, go girls! Get all that you can catch. Yep, the chickens live with the critters. And, with a whole lot of other critters we don't see..ewww!

Anyway, here is a reminder!

I've got at least one that keeps gnawing holes in my feed bags. I guess it's my own fault for not getting them moved into the barrel sooner, but it still torques me off. I keep hoping that my girls will find the mice and have at them. Between 20 chickens and three cats, you'd think that mouse's days would be numbered. And, I walked out back last night to close the run, and lo and behold, there was a massive wolf spider sitting on the porch. Yuck! My first impulse was to squish it, but then I thought, "Hey, catch it for the chickens." I tried to scoop it into a bucket. It got away

The top of my old canary's cage..lol...

I put it inside too..because I soaked sooo much wheat..lol..we'll see how it goes. Watched
the temp in this room all day yesterday, and checked it early in the morning to make sure
the temp is right for it. I turned the cage towards the window so the bottom part can get
light.
