Alright guys i need help because I have no idea what is going on with my Silkie! She is still doing fine. Don't get me wrong I am thrilled about it but I can't figure out why she is so swollen and big bottomed. Could she have just gotten fat? She still hasn't laid an egg. She isn't molting. Maybe internal laying? She hasn't got any bigger or sicker. I really don't know what the deal is. Any ideas?
Sphinx sorry to here about your fizzle.
Red good luck hauling your turkeys to there new home. I'm sorry you won't be able to enjoy them anymore.![]()
Lisa 86 quarts!! Wow! I gave all my canning stuff to my daughters and daughter in law to share. I've missed having it a few times but only a few. :![]()
Alright, so this totally made my night. A group of trick-or-treaters came up to the door not too long ago, and they were talking about the chickens and turkeys. They've walked by before when it's free range time for the birds. One of the girls said that she saw a peacock in another neighbor's yard. I asked her if she was sure, since peacocks are pretty loud and I haven't heard any. She wasn't sure. Cute kids, and fun to talk to, as well.
i think you would be fine, i mean after all it is common for chickens to eat mice.Picked the wheat up today. Was only about 500-600 lbs not 700 lbs. Also 100 Lbs lost due to a stupid mouse hole in two bag. Will it hurt my flock to eat wheat that a mouse has got into? There isn't any droppings in the wheat just a small hole in the bag. After all, their favorite thing to eat around the yard is bugs, earwigs, mill bugs, snails, spiders.... or should i give the 2 bags to the neighbor how has a pet sheep?
No, when I looked outside this summer, there were mice running around in the run. Made me mad. Found the hole, put the hose down it, had it on the hardest spray, and sprayed away. I haven't seen the mice in there since, but, have seen a mouse come out from behind the fence, where the nursery hutch is, and just sit up and look at me. They are everywhere when you have chicken food out. The get in the coop, they get into their feed bowls. And Like Brad said, they eat the mice anyway. I saw a couple of mine playing tug of war with one a few weeks ago. I said, go girls! Get all that you can catch. Yep, the chickens live with the critters. And, with a whole lot of other critters we don't see..ewww!Picked the wheat up today. Was only about 500-600 lbs not 700 lbs. Also 100 Lbs lost due to a stupid mouse hole in two bag.
