Utah!

I was thinking the same thing! They are cute, though. I wonder if those big eyes help them to see really well?

I know I'm not Birdguy, but I thought I'd read that some of the heritage breeds like the Narragansett make good mothers. Shawn, feel free to correct me on that one.

Sundance, I saw your babies in the garage. Soooo cute. Although I hate to say it, I think your red frizzle is looking boyish

Cynthia, thanks for putting up the pics! I love seeing everyone's birds

Your girlies are so cute. That blue SFH is giving me a "boy" vibe, but I can't see any pointy saddle feathers yet. Maybe it's too young for those?

On a side note, I got to visit Sundance tonight. One of her chickens is a little RIR that is so sweet, she lets anyone pick her up. I was holding her for a minute, and when I set her down, she started picking politely at my shoelaces to tell me that I wasn't done yet. It made me laugh.

I was so glad you saw the babies and thanks for the help today. I loved your expression when you saw my christmas lights on the coop. I am hoping my chick is a girl. It was sexed as a girl but time will tell Love the pics cyn

thanks for the info red. i am sure i will be seeking advice from people who have experience with turkeys because i know very little about them as you may be able to tell :)

What a day! Got to see Daloorashens, and her cute flock and boys....Thank you girl! Always good to see your smiling face. (She is always always smiling!) I like my new chicken :) She is terrified, but figuring it out lol. I have not put her out with the big girls, waiting until morning so I can babysit the meet and greet session. We got home and she ate a piece of wheat toast and yogurt, nice little snack for her :D

Birdman, as you know I have mom's family and dad's family in Idaho, I can easily find a way to get your turkey (s) to you if you are not picky on the timeline. I go up every few months. Or my mom comes from there, to here. :) I know I will be going for chickenstock. And will see birdguy that day.

(Thank you Birdguy for finding Mesha's phone number for me, sorry to bother you on your Saturday lol)! You were the only one I could find in the phonebook! Awww I left my cell phone in Utah with all my contacts so I was glad it worked out to make my chicken pick-up.

I ate Thanksgiving dinner today for the second time, because my Dad's was the family Christmas party today. So my diet is in the toilet. I was .3lbs away from the place I needed to be at to be getting that Baconator from Wendy's! I was SO CLOSE! ARGH!!! I am not cheating. Repeat..NOT cheating. Fair is fair I have to stick to my promise...so now I have to wait another week or two (or forever if my willpower does not hold up to christmas cookies...), it is EXCRUCIATING and I am pretty mad at myself lol but the turkey was pretty good so I guess it was sort of, sort of worth it. Sheesh. The baconator commercials are getting to me. I may never ever get one....:barnie

Whittni I just saw those birds. The first ones have COOL eyes, I love them! I wish we had leaves like that....they are long gone here and it is about to become a cold dark awful place for months....Yes Red I despise winter lol! Same to you on turkeys, I can bring a whole bunch back for you guys :)

Cynthia, you have some really pretty and very interesting birds going on! I love your Naked Neck, that is really naked. Very cute! And those SFH are really nice!

so i was on the meyer website and i did not get chicks but i did get something i have been wanting for a long time now, one of those jiffy egg scales. i figure its useful and decorative at the same time. was not planning to get it today but it was on sale and the sale ends at midnight so i got it. plus i got it for a lot cheaper than i could get it on amazon and other places. lisa thanks for the offer. i will keep that in mind :)

Bird Man, that scale sounds really cool!

Delarooshens, congrats on your incubator.

Lisa, I'd say something about the eggs, but I won't. I'm too busy trying to resist the temptation to hatch out some of my legbar eggs and see what happens. If someone was to promise to buy the chicks, i"d be getting it set up today!

Cynthia, love seeing your chickens. I do think that one with the really reddish wattles is looking boyish.

I was noticing my silkie chick's comb seems awfully wide now. I'm really hoping it's a girl. I'll be so sad if it's not.

Forgot to mention, this is a decrowed rooster- there's a vet in the midwest (OK?) who has gotten it down pretty pat. I'm dying to hear updates on Sundance's vet friend. I think it's such a neat idea. It would save the lives of many a rooster.

That vet in ok is the one she talked to about the procedure. Funny thing is he works at the practice that sees her moms farm animals

Birdman, congrats on your scale purchase, fun!
A de-crowed rooster would be magnificent!
Mesha, the new girl "Bella" is adjusting just fine. I brought her in this morning and bathed her and blow dried her....she was not a fan of the bath, but rather seemed to like the dryer after she got used to the noise. She was a mess after being in the kennel all night, and I wanted to get some poultry protector on her with winter coming, then I will dip all my girls in the late Spring. Then I took her out to the run, put her in and she just ran right over to the fodder I put out this morning and chowed down, I thought she would hide from the girls, but she just strutted among them like she belonged. It was funny too my girls just looked at her like 'whatever'! Nobody seems to be annoyed by yet another new addition :) I always get so worried about them attacking one another. It worked out just fine. We really really like her, she is so cute! Thank you for letting her come to my place :) My son says she is his favorite. He says this a lot, but it is a good thing :p

Cynthia, I am looking at Larry today, and just loving him/her. It is so red right around the mouth, but the comb and wattles are not as red...darker than I want, but they are staying about the same, and this one is almost 3 months old right? So if it were a he, real red would/could be starting....this is not bright red yet, just dark pink....still hoping. I see no saddle feathers, and the legs are stocky but not long like a lot of roos...I am really hoping the bigger comb/wattles is just unique to this breed...ohhhhh I hope I hope. For the longest time, I am thinking "too pink" , but now it is getting old enough, with not a severe change yet...I am thinking "still pink!" Is there hope for Larry? Maybe? I am starting to wonder!

thanks everyone. wow that decrowed rooster is so cool! depending on how much it would be i would get one done. it would be so much fun to have a rooster. sphinx i would be tempted to get some cream legbar pullets but i think i will have to wait for spring. but i am sure you will be able to find homes for any super fast, even homes for the roosters will be easy to find i am sure.
