Valbazen question

I wormed my girls about 4 days ago with valbazen (oral).

I had checked one's poop to look for parasites and found a few bits that looked like the white segments from tapeworm. So all got wormed.

Yesterday I saw fresh poop covered moderately with the white segments, all moving. Some were the tiny ones, and a couple of the bigger ones that I know are tapeworm. Not sure what the little ones are, other than some parasite.

If I just wormed them, why are they there? I know I need to repeat in 10 days, but shouldn't they be dead?

Should I remedicate asap?

Always follow medication directions to the letter. Re worm when instructions say to.

You are seeing the worms after worming because they are no longer able to attach themselves to the inside of the digestive tract because they are dying and the chicken can pass them. A lot of times if there is an overload of parasites this will happen. Nothing to worry about.

Re worm when you are supposed to. Try to pick up the poop and bury it 12 inches under the soil. When I worm my girls (this is just a suggestion) I try to do it on a Friday night. I also make them a temporary run that is in an area that that they have never been penned on before. I put them in this 'new' run on Saturday morning. They have food, water, shade and a new place to peck around on even if it is 10 by 10 feet. On Sunday I'll move the temp run again and let the girls play in that area for another day. If I can I'll do the same on Monday.

This way the majority of worms and eggs will be expelled somewhere other than their usual run or the coop and Mother Nature can take care of the ick with sunshine and rain and the natural process of decomposition.

Always worm all or none of your flock and use different formulas of wormers because worms can develop a resistance to the ingredients and thats a real problem.

As Americans we think that if a little is good then more is better. Thats how we get into trouble with antibiotics and pesticides etc. Always follow directions. The dosage and time between dosages are there for a reason.
