My girls - Carlisle (white silkie) and Ebony (black silkie/cochin mix) taking egg hatching very seriously. My other eggs are shipping today from MyPetChicken!
My bator. There are about 10 viable....but I'm no EGGspert, so I left them all in there. We're on day 9. We journal about it daily - what's going on inside the eggs. My barnvelder (the only one they gave me doesn't look viable.
- I was looking forward to having one).
Under my broody, 2 out of 3 eggs looks good and she's almost done - this weekend, we shall see!!!!
The black cochin mix left the nest, so my white silkie took over. I pulled the one egg that did not have anything in it. The other two look good for hatch time - good air cells.
Now, I'm just waiting, and waiting and waiting. My silkie is a first time mama.
STILL WAITING! I hate waiting for babies to hatch. It was warm here, now cold. Someone local said her babies didn't hatch until day 24 (because of cold), so I'm only day 23....waiting. I hope these two make it.
Then, my others not due until Monday in the incubator. There are only 7 now in the bator. 13 were scrambled from shipping. One had a teeny embryo, died earlier.
One under my broody was stone cold today, so I eggtopsied it. it was very small, so I know it wouldn't have made it. I will wait one more day for the other. Tomorrow, I'll go to the local place and get some chicks for my poor broody who's done such a great job hanging in there. Poor girl.
