Valentine's Day 1st Annual Hatch Along

that sucks! Did they not get shipped in time? Or did the PO lose them?

They got out in what should have been plenty of time, had a wonderful seller who communicated thoroughly. My tracking hasn't been updated in 3 days, however, so I can only assume they are lost in transit out there somewhere... Hopefully they still come in (if a little late), I just won't have Valentine chicks. Poor me, will have to be patient that much longer!

Jennianne, How do your eggs from Garry Farms look? I just received 7 and most of them are a little on the small side. The hole in a regular sized egg carton swallows them they are so small. I've never hatched any this small. Hope they turn out ok. Also, were yours very dirty? 1 of mine is EXTREMELY dirty covering just about the whole egg.

They were packaged very well, much better than any I've ever received. I'm sure they will be fine, I'm just one of those paranoid hatchers. Lol

Mine are almost all on the smaller side, too, I would say. I have read some posts about hatching pullet eggs with no problem though so as far as that I'm not real concerned. (I have no experience personally yet though, so we shall see)

I was reading about humidity and weight this morning, I read the same info as what ochochicas posted here. I was thinking to weigh them to better set humidity. I'll post pics and weights tomorrow.

Mine had some dirt too. I have read that the dirt is okay, and I have also read it's really bad. IDK. Leaning towards leaving mine as is to keep the bloom.

Being my first hatch I'm going to keep my fx and do everything I can for a great hatch and see what happens. I'm excited, I am sure I will learn a lot and hopefully I'll get a bunch of fuzzy butts around 3 weeks from now :)

dirty eggs should be left alone. Do not wash them as this allows bacteria inside of the shell because it washes away the bloom. I won't set super filthy eggs and won't send them to someone else either to set.

Pullet eggs hatch great! They are a little smaller but the chicks seem to do fine. I especially like pullet eggs for shipped eggs as they will take more of a beating then hens eggs usually an still hatch.

I believe I would be calling the last post office that had them and tell them they need to be finding them! Call your main office you receive at and start asking questions. They can track them down.

The eggs I ordered for the NYD Hal took forever and didn't track until they landed at my post office. Mine were shipped on a Monday and nothing showed in the tracking until Friday morning, when they arrived at my local post office. My fingers are crossed that your eggs turn up tomorrow!!
