Gonna eat something and TRY to go to sleep. I have 14 eggs left, one with a pip within the last hour or so. Tomorrow is probably going to be a loooong day. I just really would hate to wake up and have missed them hatching!

I just got my first pip!--this is 2 days early!!! i set mine on the 26th at 1:30 am, so almost exactly 2 days early. this is my first shipped egg and it has a detached air cell. it is a sizzle. lets see if it gets out ok-never dealt with detached air cells before but i am told they can hatch.

I have good news and bad news here.

Good news:

We are up to fifteen peeping chicks with only three left to hatch.

Bad news:

I would have 16 peeping chicks, but one little chick died not long after pipping through the shell. Not sure exactly what happened. I took it out and noticed the membrane was a little dry.

Sorta good by kinda iffy news:

Upon finding the dryish membrane on the deceased chick I went to work assisting two others who pipped. One is a bit wobbly. The other seems weak and the head is puffy looking.

Finally panic inducing news:

This is the first time I have put chicks under a broody. I selected three chicks and carefully placed them under a broody hen. The hen startled a little when I opened up her brooder box, but settled quickly. She was contentedly sitting on three sleeping chicks when I left them. Now I am in panic mode hoping she will fully except them as hers.

Now if you don't mind I am going to go curl up in a fetal position and fear for the lives of three tiny little chicks. And never do anything so crazy again. Next time, if she wants to be a mama so bad she will just have to hatch her own chicks.

. I have 3 hatched so far, 2 sometime early this morning and 1 about 2 pm. I don't see any pips but I have my fingers crossed I will get more.

My second hatched at midnight. I did help them both. They perforated the membrane and couldn't pop out. They are both doing great.

Still no pips. I set late afternoon 1/24 and added a few 1/24 so not TOO worried yet. All were viable at lockdown.

Who else has no action yet?
