Valentine's Day Hatch!!!

Ok, so here's the plan. I got the booder all set up today. I need to find my other little feeder and my thermometer to make sure it is going to stay warm enough in there for them. Then I'm going to candle one last time tomorrow., pull out all the eggs that are a bunch of no good quitters

, hook up my tubing so I can add water to keep up humidity without opening the lid, pull out the turner, put the good ones in little paper cups to help contain the hatching mess, and then lockdown the bator! According to my calendar Saturday is day 21. So, here is to hoping for at least six cute little fuzzy britches soon.

do you add water that is warm or are you adding the water cold when you use the tube? i've added water before through the holes in the incubator but i noticed that there is a change in the overall temp when i've done it.

I guess it will be mostly room temp. I have a coffee cup sitting next to the bator so I can pipe it in as needed. 30 cc's of water surely cant make that big of a temp diff. Can it???

So far I have 6 little quail running around!

Lockdown started yesterday for my 21 eggs (the two that I thought were bad were) and the other 15 quail eggs. Here's to a good hatch!!!

just candled again, and of the 8 of 12 I have left in the bator, they all look good, and I saw movement in 7 of the 8. I am still hopefull for the other one.

OMG!!! I'm in so much trouble!!! I "accidently" just bought 12+ silkie eggs off ebay. I was just playing around even tho I have been watching her auctions for the last month cause I really, really want some of her eggs and they were like $10 cheaper than all her other egg auctions for the last month. I thought for sure I would be outbid.

So, I figure they ship tomorrow, take 3-4 days to get here, and have to rest a day before going into the bator. Tomorrow is lockdown, Saturday is day 21, I will have probably a little over two dozen of my own eggs to go in around the same time. So, as long as my boyfriend doesn't kill me for not practicing a little self control and waiting to purchase eggs like we had talked about all should be ok.

Time for a second bator! I did the same thing.

"Oh, I'd like to try some silkies, and some Old English, oh, and look, bantam cornish, sure, throw in some sussex eggs. You need me to check for fertility, ok."

My second bator is full (43 eggs) and this one is reserved! I have 26 eggs in the mail, waiting for lockdown to be complete.

lock down starts tomorrow night for me.

i haven't candled at all. I feel like I don't know what I am looking at and Im afraid to throw any out.
Plus, those itty bitty quail eggs are hard to see in.
