Valentine's Day Hatch

My rainbow eggs arrived from SCG yesterday. My rainbow included white, brown, dark brown, green and olive. How cool is that? They are going to sit in a turner in a cool room until our set time on Tuesday. I went ahead and set 10 LCO's early. I've tried several times to hatch some already with no luck.

Bikerchic, I think that's SO cool! Good for you (and the chicken peeps around you that can be tested for a reasonable price)

Everybody else getting their bators ready for Tuesday?

I'm so glad they arrived. Were they all safe and sound? Are you mad about the bonus banty egg?

You are so funny! I love the special banty egg! Who can resist a little banty chick? I can't leave the feed store without a little box of them, at least a couple times each spring.

All the eggs look great! Love the rainbow, thank you.

I have two boxes of eggs stuck at the post office! because the weather has sorta made us prisioner in our home....snow and ice. I do not think I can talk my hubs into braving these roads for packages at the post office....not even for hatching eggs. In fact, he'll probably tell me I'm crazy to "risk driving in inclement weather for hatching eggs" especially since he thinks it's just my new feeders/waterers at the po...

Ah....post office closes in 2 hours. I'm going nuts!

I was going to let them rest until tomorrow before setting them.

I normally do not like to let shipped eggs rest for more than a day before setting them, because not sure how old they were when collected. plus, 3 days in the mail.

I'm getting fresh eggs locally from my friend BeccaOh for Tuesday I think...I hope. LOL

I know what you mean. I normally don't let them sit for that long either but this time I'm going to wait.

Can't wait to see the Dorking chicks you end up with.

Most of my eggs were collected on Tuesday the 17th and then immediately packed and sent Tuesday. A few were from Sunday and Monday, but not many. Despite going out multiple times to collect most of the eggs froze and cracked over the weekend. Tuesday it was finally above the cracking point of eggs.

So disappointed my little easter eggers from the NYD hatch aren't laying yet.

(assuming half sister - shipped eggs) Will hopefully get his babies for the easter hatch a long. Would be nice if the pullet was laying by then too.

Glad to hear eggs are arriving in good shape!

HA! My husband ran out of sugar for his coffee = THIS of course, in his mind, rationalizes an emergency trip to the store in any weather - so I was able to go to the PO and pick up my eggs!!

2 boxes of eggs!! :)

I've been waiting for my eggs from Sweet Awesome Nellie and they should have been delivered yesterday. Well I called the post office and they were are just sitting there just waiting!!!! She says let me see if I can catch your post guy. They weren't even going to deliver them today even. They were just going to let them sit there until Monday even though they had them sitting there since yesterday!
