My flock has arrived!! I’ve been waiting patiently (while counting down the days of course!) for the past month looking forward to the best Valentine’s Day ever.

I wanted to share my experience with Hoover’s hatchery. This is my second order from them, although the first time I ordered I went through Tractor Supply. This time I ordered directly through their website as I wanted to specifically choose my chicks and have a variety. My babies were born on 2/12, which is also the day they were scheduled to be shipped to their forever home. Around 2pm I received an email from Hoover’s stating that my order would be delayed. I called them up assuming they didn’t have a specific chick that I ordered “in stock”. That was the reason, but they allowed me to exchange for an alternative available chick. My order shipped as scheduled on 2/12 with me having to choose two new chicks. No big deal and I was happy my order wouldn’t be delayed!

I ordered 15 chicks as that is the minimum requirement when ordering directly from Hoover’s. I had 13 chicks arrive. Prior to the chicks shipping, I did get a refund from Hoover’s for 1 chick, so I anticipated receiving 14 chicks. Unfortunately, 2 of the chicks arrived unhealthy. No interest in drinking, eating, or even walking. I think and am praying I’ve managed to recover one of them, she seems to be walking around now and mingling with the others and acting like a normal chick. The other is still just sleeping and laying there as it has been. I’ve tired dipping her beak in water multiple times, but she has no interest at all. I dipped her beak in the water a few times, waited 30-60 mins and tried again, and repeated this a few more times. I don’t believe she is going to make it though.

Anyway, all-in-all, pretty normal and expected experience. I would order from them again. And I know you all are wondering what I ordered, so I’ll list them below! I think I am missing a California White and either the Welsummer or Cuckoo Maran. Can anybody help me identify what chicks might be missing? I will take more pictures when I am home and reunited with them!

4 – Americana

2 – Barred Rock

2 – California White

1 – Cuckoo Maran

2 – Golden Comet

2 – New Hampshire Red

1 – Sapphire Olive Egger

1 – Welsummer
