Vamp's hatching crew! who cares what day u r on!Hatch with us!

This is the problem I am having during this heat wave. I do not have A/C. I plugged in my bator today, stuck the thermometer probe in the water wiggler- came home from work and it said 114!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Inside my kitchen right now is 85 degrees. I have no idea how to incubate the eggs that came today, will come tomorrow.

The incubator in my room right now seems to have better luck- so I am trying to get it regulated.

I feel stress coming on, big time. Eight EE and 25 (1 was broke) button quail were delivered today- had a neighbor grab my boxes when they came, otherwise they would have been hard-boiled by the time I got off work.

I hear ya...I turned my a/c off yesterday and now I'm sorry. Got home and my bator was at 103. Sure hope I didn't cook them...

If it makes you feel better when we didn't have it on and it was really hot (this was before we opened the vents) it was up that high and the babies were ok. Do you have a still air?

is it still within the normal range that only 1 chick has hatched (day 19) and none of the others have even pipped yet? I did candle last night before taking out of the turner and they looked good (moving) still... why would 1 pip, zip and hatch so far before the others?

I have 1 baby!!! And finally 4 pips!!! Took forever!!!! Pics to come......

Chickenlisa, mine hatched early this am, before 5, and I had no other pips until around 4pm. So yeah, that is normal. But the poor little ones are sooooooo lonely!!! Mine keeps cheeping like crazy, poor thing!!! Steph

Me too- I feel so sorry for her (?) it has to be a little girl, calling for her friends to come out and play....

I once heard someone say that the first one to hatch is always a roo.

Now that's most likely not scientific fact but I have had only one set of chics hatch before this and sure enough that first early hatcher was a roo!

We should form a study on that!

That's good to know. Yes, it's a still air Hovabator - very old. Doesn't really have vents, just a couple small holes in the styrofoam. This is my first ever hatch so I am really hoping for at least one!!

Day 20... or I should say night 20...and one pip so far. Will update tomorrow. have 3 ameraucana and one surprise(as per listing on Ebay). Don't know what the suprise will be but the egg is brown with darker brown spots. Welsummer maybe? Not real familiar with brown spotted eggs.

Its the same one I have, I bet. I am really worried about temps this time around. Seriously, they could almost incubate without an incubator in here....it is HOT.

I should check temps in my garage- may be cooler in there.
