Vamp's hatching crew! who cares what day u r on!Hatch with us!

I also have 2 Partridge Showgirls from therealsilkiechick and also 1 dark blue Silkie from her. The other eggs were mostly good, but didn't make it due to my error. It was my first time hatching and I made mistakes. Anyway, they are almost 1 month old and so soft and adorable! I love them and am getting more eggs from her in the next few days. I hope better results this time!

The other eggs are doing ok... I've got about 2 blood rings, and some unfertiles, but I see bouncing baby chicks in some!!!!!! I'm excited!

Ok I'm joining!

I'm a total newbie, so bear with me.

Got a couple of questions.

The egg carton....how do you turn the eggs during incubation?

What is the "general" schedule for candeling??

I've got some mutt eggs from the lady I buy my fresh eggs from...some had been in the fridge, she's not certain even of the fertility ratio of them. We actually bought them as eating eggs, then found out since we bought eggs last time, she's put a roo in the pen...now dh and I can neither one bring ourselves to eat these....so was a good reason to buy our first bator and attempt to hatch them. (sorry, we're pretty lame lol). Right now, the oldest in the carton is about 5 days old. I pick up my bator tomorrow...planning on day 1 being very early am on Saturday...so the odds of any chickies from these eggs are likely pretty slim, but what the heck, gotta give them a chance, right??

We are buying a OE Crele Trio from the same lady, but one of her hens is broody right now...setting since thursday. She said I am welcome to have those eggs (wants her hen to get back to "bizness" laying lol) to add to the bator. We literally only live 1 mile apart, so the eggs won't be "exposed" but for a very couple of minutes for the drive. BUT they are "ahead" of what my mutt eggs will be.

I've also got Buff Orps eggs on the way, hopefully will arrive Thurs/Friday to go in the bator also.

So...my big question is....is it ok to put the OE Crele eggs in the bator, seeing that they are ahead of what all the others will be??

Sorry for all the questions!

just spin the eggs. Make sure big end stays up. Careful spacing the eggs out to much because when you raise the humidity on day 18 you may or may not screw up the other eggs. I am borrowing an incubator and maybe getting one at a swap on Sat so I can have 3 going. Sorry I gotta go to bed. I'll answer better in thee morning.

i'll join ya all, lol. i got eggs in i got from my girls due to go in the hatcher tomarrow. i got a speratic hatch due so i gotta see when others r due to move also.

for the showgirl question for neck feathers. r u sure it's not a bowtie? not sure the tech name for it. i have 1 roo who does not have it at all and all the rest do have it. a turken or sg's can have or not have it depending on which genes they have for NN. if it is a patch on one spot on the neck that is still a showgirl, the silkie babies look like a regular silkie. in lower generations u can get what i call a fuzzy neck. it looks like a silkie with bald spots on neck, like it was plucked but mostly feathered.

for the carton question if u don't have a turner prop something under one side and like 3 times a day move it to the other side so u tilt the whole carton back and forth from side to side. once in the hatcher u don't put the wedges under it sits flat on the bottom the last 3 days.

Newbie here - first *hopeful* hatch. Have 12 button quail in the bator. Put them in late Saturday so that makes today day 3 I guess?

Is that ALL??? This is going to be hard...
