Vamp's hatching crew! who cares what day u r on!Hatch with us!

Ok, after the advise on this board, I decided I didn't want to chance ruining my 1st official hatch by including "in process" eggs from under a broody hen.

I've purchased a 2nd bator. As soon as I get the humidity stabilized in the first one, I'll go pick up the +/- day 7 eggs from my neighbor and put them in the bator.

LOL...kinda funny....I get to jump into a hatch 1/3 of the way through. Of course, if any will hatch or not, we'll just have to see what happens.

Then the 2nd bator, tomorrow will be day 1 for 12 Mutts and 16 BO!

My stats:
Day +/- 8 on 2 OE Crele

Primo hatched on Day 19. I think the temp was a little high. But I've also read that serama's hatch earlier than some? Turner comes out and we put more water in tomorrow. Then I can't look at them all weekend since they're at school and I'm NOT! Last time I was glued to the thing, this time I have no choice.

Wow it's been 3 weeks already! Time went by quick, soon chickenstock will be here! Did you candle them to see how many were developing? I can't wait to here the results! Keep me updated! Oh and that thing you e-mailed me, reminded me so much of Primo too! Primo is deffiently not your average chicken. Whenever I go to salem I always bring him and he gets lots of pets and sweet talk

Just wondering but I am getting that Buff Brahma rooster from bestponymilo and she is unable to make it to CS, would you be able to meet her and bring him to CS for me?

Oh my goodness! I just candled for the first time EVER and although most of my dozen eggs are duds, I saw veins for sure in three of them (one may have a blood ring, though). I am only on day 5 so I will candle again on Sunday, but I am just thrilled that I saw veins.

I'm not getting my hopes up at all, since the home-made bator temp has just been fluctuating too much. But for a first0timer, candling is exciting!

If I should just get two chicks (

I'm looking at my calendar to see if I can do that for you. The 20th is the last day of school so I'd have to do it the 21st right before Chickenstock.
It might work out.
I did try to candle the eggs but it's not working. Not that the eggs are clear, I just can't seem to get a bright enough light to see anything. It's the same flashlight I used with Primo and crew. So rather than stress about it too much I'm just going to hope for the best. I hope to come in Monday morning to some little fuzz butts or at least pipping.
Give Primo a hug from us. DS misses him. I'll probably be at Salem Sunday afternoon for a small bag of starter!

I'm on day 3 with 34 Dutch Bantam eggs. What day should I candle for the first time? I'm hand turning twice a day....too cheap to buy a turner..lol. I'm used to using a broody hen, so this will be my first time to actually candle anything.
