Hi! Thanks!
I think I'm understanding it a little better. I just was noticing my 'pure-breed' blue Jersey Giant pullets still have small dark-ish combs still (no new pics, but that is a same age
JG girl across the fence in this pic).
The black JG hens I have here, I got as 'grown birds' and already had big red combs and wattles.
So I can expect the girls with tiny 'whisps-of-combs' to get much larger as they mature? Phooey!
The JG must have something in them that complements / accentuates the 'dark-skin' gene.
It's a sad, sad thing...
I just realized I have 'Jack-Pot', a good-sized black dark-skinned frizzled Naked Neck guy [{(Ameraucana x (Naked Neck x Silkie)} X {(Naked Neck x Silkie) x (Frizz Cochin x Silkie)}](his siblings lay green eggs) I can put with the black green-egg laying NN.
'Treasure', a splash frizz NN from the same cross is ready to be paired with the clean- face blue blue-egger girls.
OH! Help!
I'm visioning Giant blue/black dark-skinned Naked Neck frizzled green-eggers.
...and that makes me smile!
