Not sure if this is the right forum to post this but:

OK - so far I've seen the South end of a frog going down the North end of one of my pullets & the other day I saw one pecking at something in the coop and removed a pecked-to-death mole.

I have to assume it's okay for them to eat these things as I cannot patrol the henyard 24/7 to enforce this variation of the 5-second Rule: If it does not come from the Layena bag, don't eat it.

I know they eat bugs, worms & whatever - it's just the two examples of Chicken Carryout above ooged me out just a bit.

Toads are considered a much sought after delicacy by my Girl's. It wasn't so bad in the Spring when the toads were tiny, but now they are too big for them to swallow whole, so the run around with 'em dangling from their beaks until they find a nice private spot to tear them apart. YUCK, YUCK, YUCK!!! It really makes me wish I didn't have to supervise free range time!

If my hens can catch it, they get to eat it.
It was really funny watching them stalk a flock of crows one day.

My pullets love toads. Two of them were playing tug of war with one a few months ago. I never realized how far a toad would stretch.

Right now they're going nuts over the crickets. Every time I open the door to the coop, the crickets scatter. They've been hiding under the door frame. My barred rock bantam hens are the fastest when it comes to catching crickets.

Chickens are really like tiny dinos...they eat anything they can get down their gullets

Mine have eaten bugs, table scraps, treats, frogs, butterflies, lizards etc.

They were trying desperately to catch the darn robin that got caught in the run lol I swear they were licking their beaks and everything! And they are certainly NOT starving by any means lol

I remember as a child tho on my grandads farm seeing the whole flock of chickens over in a corner of the pasture one day. They were happily munching on a poached deer on the property!! I was shocked...but really they are omniverous critters and will happily eat bits of meat as well as veg and anything else.
