Vent gleet/prolapse/abscess? What am I missing

Perhaps I can get a hold of cattle antibiotics or something from the feed store. In Canada this stuff is super hard to get without a vet though

Oh, you're in Canada. I just suggested how we get antibiotics online without a prescription, but not sure if they'd ship out of the country. There must be a way though!

They usually confiscate at the border. Unless the shop labels it as vitamins haha

I suspect one of two things could be going on. One is egg binding. The other is late stage cancer in the reproductive tract. Both would cause these symptoms. Cancer would cause bleeding.

Treating for one could narrow it down to cancer. Give her some Tums or a regular human calcium tablet. The whole tablet, not part or diluted in any way.

If this is egg binding or some other blockage, the calcium can help expel it. If after that, these symptoms continue, I would then suspect late stage cancer.

I hope not cancer! She has seemed normal otherwise. I don’t know which birds are laying exactly but all eggs have been normal looking and she has seemed healthy until very recently. I am giving tums as I read its good for prolapses as well but its very hard to get her to take it. She definitely hasn’t eaten a full tum as of yet. I do not feel any egg in her abdomen though

I decided to try and pack it with syptic powder. I know a prolapse should be kept moist but I think the rate of bleeding is a more immediate concern. As I was applying the powder I noticed the blood isn’t pouring from inside, the prolapse itself porous. It is beading droplets around the exposed tissue and it’s coming through the skin somehow. I packed it and decided to try and get the tissue inside as much as possible. I think I have discovered that it is a growth near the vent or the oviduct. It is firm though and pressure does not pop it back in. The tissue sticking out is from the top side. The poop is exiting below the mass. The passageway inside does not seem obstructed in anyway. Regardless the tissue is mostly inside now and bleeding hopefully stops. She passed some green poo without blood with the powder on the prolapsed tissue so I guess thats a small win. Im hoping with it pertruding less she stops straining so hard. She really is behaving like shes trying to pass an egg. I really hope there isnt one stuck behind this mass of protruding tissue

I only have huge tum chewable tablets. I crushed it, mixed it with plain yogurt and nutridrench into a 3ml syringe and just “force” fed bit by bit until she finished it. I may just continue to feed this way until she will take solids. She is not eating anything she has to peck, scrambled eggs included. She is however pecking at her nipple waterer funny enough. That waterer has apple cider vinegar in it and she has a water bowl with electrolytes in it she occasionally goes to drink from. Today she is very off balance, walking with wings wide. Seems to be looking for somewhere to lay. When I leave the cage open shes waddling out quickly and exploring the house for corners lol. Makes me think she may be egg bound. In tempted to do another soak tonight and apply lubricant inside but the bleeding has stopped and I would like that to heal over before washing the powder off or putting anything in there again

Repeated soakings can stress her, aggravating a stuck egg. The calcium is enough to cause contractions to push out the blockage.
