Vent - I am terrible at coop making

Average kid's playhouse kit is about 4x4. About the same footprint as most prefab coop/run combos, but about half the cost.

My husband is away on vacation. I started building my coop right after he left. He is coming back the 9th. I have the floor done, but i had to keep going to get supplies. That and doing other chores. Plus my guinea keets are outgrowing the brooder, so the last two days i worked on a tractor for them. I hope to have at least two walls up before he gets back, but you never know. It might rain again. Did that once and washed the paint off my boards... Here is a shot of the partially finished tractor...

Wonder if there is a thread (there must be)on converting those playscapes to coops. It is a just about perfect setup for a small flock..@junebuggena!

I would so much prefer to get a kit like a playscape and put it together and then tweak it than build from scratch...i am not handy but I can follow IKEA directions... course I always have to take it apart at least once...

This would be me...at least I am good at other things...I have to keep reminding myself! So we can't all be good at all things, make it as easy/reasonable on yourself as possible. Look on Craigslist for a playscape maybe, even less expensive. My sisterin law has one in her backyard and her oldest is 19, but she won't take it down. She is now converting it into an outside camping space for her youngest, 13, lol. She is quite attached to the playscape.

I wish IKEA would make a chicken coop, but I digress.

Googled some out of curiosity....most are $300-600, look to be of sturdier materials tho.

I've been wanting to get this and turn it into a coop for years now. Husband is adamant that we don't need another coop. But it would be SO easy to convert.

And 300-600 is the price for the "higher-end" and still awful pre-fabs. i would say another $200 in materials and you have a coop...could be wrong about that of course!

I made an awesome overpriced big coop and I love it, next coop will be a hoop house.... Next coop? Coop math....
