After we got a a really bloody egg for the third day in a row, we discovered one of our sweet ducks was the unlucky one. At first I thought it was a vent prolapse, but on closer inspection, I’m pretty certain that’s not it. There seems to be a tear at the top with a lot of swelling around. We were able to pull of the small black chunk at the bottom right; still unsure if it’s just fecal matter?
We brought her in and she didn’t lay for two days, although she did this morning and was bleeding slightly after. We’ve been soaking her in epsom salt (along with some calendula tea), spraying with vetericyn, and applying some Vaseline twice a day. Giving her calcium supplement (her egg shells were thinner than usual) and water with garlic and ACV. I ordered a wound salve that I’m planning on applying.
That said, I have no idea what’s going on. Can anyone help? Vet isn’t an option.
