Vent injury

After we got a a really bloody egg for the third day in a row, we discovered one of our sweet ducks was the unlucky one. At first I thought it was a vent prolapse, but on closer inspection, I’m pretty certain that’s not it. There seems to be a tear at the top with a lot of swelling around. We were able to pull of the small black chunk at the bottom right; still unsure if it’s just fecal matter?
We brought her in and she didn’t lay for two days, although she did this morning and was bleeding slightly after. We’ve been soaking her in epsom salt (along with some calendula tea), spraying with vetericyn, and applying some Vaseline twice a day. Giving her calcium supplement (her egg shells were thinner than usual) and water with garlic and ACV. I ordered a wound salve that I’m planning on applying.
That said, I have no idea what’s going on. Can anyone help? Vet isn’t an option.

Is this the one who had a prolapse a couple of months ago?
What diet are the birds on?

It sounds like you've been doing a pretty good job treating her vent issue - from the picture it appears she had a past prolapse that didn't totally heal correctly. There appears to be a lot of fecal matter, and necrotic tissue along the outside of her vent. I would continue on soaking daily in an attempt to loosen some of the debris to the point it can be manually taken off without causing too much harm to the underlying tissue.

Vaseline can trap bacteria into the tissue, so you may consider opting for something such as Preparation H which will help reduce any inflammation, and also control any bacterial overbalance on the tissue (honey, sugar paste, antibacterial ointments/creams will work) Garlic has been noted as causing anemia, and death in parrots; I think it may be best to stop medicating her water with the ACV, and garlic as that can decrease there overall water intake.

No, that duck sadly died. They are on all flock pellets (as we have chickens also). We also always have oyster shells for them.
Thank you for the advice. I greatly appreciate it.
