Vent! Neighbors Dog...

Well, well now don't we have another problem here!

Its a known fact that 99% of the dog owners think that their dog does no harm.

We also know that these dog wars can get outta control sometimes! Lets look at the facts only one time. The dog is up to something thats not gonna be good for you as a chicken farmer, yet the only witness, the goose cannot testify, is this not enough? Seriously I doubt if any talk to the owner would be of any benefit,

and 99% of the time it don't. Well around here they just go missing, very simple. The worst problem is that you may have done ask for better supervision of the dog which points the finger at you when the dog is gone. To have good friends and neighbors never never, ask someone to control their dog. Just let him end up missing! Simple enough.

This is assuming the dog does not have an injected id tag.
I would say the dog may look like any dangerous animal in your yard at night and subject to the same terrible consequences.

BBs will penetrate the skin and cause infections. I have seen a german shepard loose his hip because of a BB wound.

I say that the neighbor is irresponsible, a complete jerk who is self absorbed and a fool. But not a friend. A friend would not allow his dog to come onto your property, causes damage (the flower beds), wander the streets and kill an innocent animal and WOULD get a clue when he has to keep going to the pound to pick the mutt up. So you will not be losing a good friend.

Tell him to keep it at home, off your property or you will call the pound every time you see it off his property until animal control gets sick of it and puts the animal down.

IF he has one ounce of brain matter, he will get the idea and lock the dog up securely on his property.

I'm thinking that if he had to try to remove a painted on bullseye or paintgun splatters from his "beloved" dog, then he may decide it's better to keep it at home. If you can catch this dog, I'd do some "decorating" and send it on home. That's the first time I caught it....

Paintballs are a good idea, just one word of caution...make sure you pick up the empty 'shells' as they are toxic to animals. But I think the sound and the 'hit' would scare the dog, and the owner would get the idea. I have a neighbor who has about 4 labs....one used to come here all the time, and decided when I came flying out of the house throwing pans, squirting the hose, or weilding a broom, that a crazy woman lived here and she gave up.

Its a real pain when neighbors just don't 'get it' when it comes to their animals.

Do hunting dogs routinely kill their owners? Killing small animals is natural instinct, biting humans is not.

I'd suggest rehoming him, it's not his fault his owners are idiots and he could end up with someone who appreciates him. If they let him run loose he's probably not well taken care of in other respects either.
