Vent sexing

Today we managed a new first, after watching many internet videos the time had come to attempt to vent sex three of our geese, all had hit the seven month mark and obviously the geese knew what was coming and decided to play hard to get rather than coming up and talking to us as usual, still after a short game of chase and catch down to business, surprisingly we had no issues apart from all three being males so two will have to end up in the freezer. Another brick added to the wall of knowledge we are slowly building. What was more pleasing was the fact we had guessed they were all males from watching their behaviour, next month we have two more to do, our guess is one male and a female so a pair will be retained to hopefully breed next year if all goes well.

Just one of the articles we read before doing this, many more on YouTube and Internet searches state the same that 7 months is the best time though some state it can be done at 6 months.

oh, sorry! I looked it up and google said no, because I knew you couldn’t do it with chickens, but I guess with waterfowl it makes sense.

Your right with chickens it won't. But with waterfowl its very obvious and works well.
