Venting -- Postal Service lost my chicks

All 7 chicks are accounted for. The travel stressed little blue orpington finally emerged from under mamma, tottered over to the feed dish, tried to eat daintily as the side for a bit, then realized more extreme measures were in order. She crawled inside the dish, head down and butt in the air, and is eating like she means business.

I'm so happy right now. Mom has chicks crawling all over her, and is doing great. I'm glad I did not give up on her last night.

Where are you that tarantulas are roaming? I love tarantulas, and toads. October was always tarantula season up at my grandmas in Mariposa.

Glad your chicks appear to be doing well!
The foothills, north of Mariposa. I think August is start of tarantula breeding season, so they are on the move, looking for mates. I've seen them in September as well, so it probably lasts in October. Cool, but creepy, to see them trucking down the path to the coop when you are out there alone at midnight.

I was expecting 2 shipments of hatching eggs on the same day once. I got a tracking text that one had been delivered, so I left work to go get the box out of the cold. Got home and only one package! I went ahead and unpacked the box, debating what to do about finding the other, and before I was done, the mail lady returned with the other box. She had forgotten it and said she normally would wait for the next day, but knew i was probably expecting it, so she brought it back.

That’s nice. Small town, and we last lived on a small cul-de-sac with 10 mailboxes on 5 posts (homes were duplexes). Ordered some swimming items from Amazon needed for a child’s swim meet the next day. Items shipped Prime, but from 2 warehouses arriving same day.
I kid not.... tracking shows padded envelope #1 delivered at specific time. I get a notification and go out to get the envelopes. See postal worker driving out of cul-de-sac and see that only 1 envelope delivered....so I check tracking which has now been updated 4 min later to say “address not found” (or some similar statement). Yup, that envelope was in the truck, but postal person too lazy to deliver while still in the tiny cul-de-sac so they updated tracking to say something to cover their actions! Box went back to distribution center then arrived a few days later... of course, not chicks and items were not harmed, but any lazy, inept, or disinterested employees have ways to not get punished or to cover their actions.

Little Blue at the feed dish and my sweet broody.

I’ve never been so happy to live in New Jersey! No tarantulas here! :wee
