Venting -- Postal Service lost my chicks

It happened to me to earlier this year .My rare breed of ducklings were all dead . The mail promises to deliver , they make you pay extra for fast delivery and they dont deliver . Years ago you could depend on the mail . not any more.
That's just rotten. You would think extra special care would be taken with live animals. So sorry about your ducklings.

So so so happy for you and your little ones. I recently ordered serama chicks and paid for overnight delivery. I got a call at 3pm on the day they were to arrive from the distribution center in the state they were coming from saying they forgot to tag them for overnight delivery and they were still sitting there. The lady was nice enough to give some chick starter and water to the chicks, but I was extremely frustrated. How do you forget about a box that has little peeps coming from it? I guess only animal lovers really care as much as we do. Thankfully all but one of my chicks survived the ordeal. I still feel terribly about the one that didn't make it.

I'm so glad you've had a happy ending. Now you get to sit back and watch your babies grow!

She's off the nest now. Usually, I just let them immediately mix with the flock because my rooster is so gentle and my hens pretty easy-going, but because I have a a few 10 weeks old cockerels roaming about, I blocked off a section of the coop for her to use until she has a better handle on her little ones. They are loving the extra room to run about, and Mom finally got to use the bathroom stretch her legs.
