verm-x experience?

I am sincerely sorry for bumping a old thread but after reading this and then the article by the skepvet I was so annoyed I had to reply.

First of all let me address this thread. There were a couple users who stated they had used this product and it worked wonders for them. Had these same users said they user Ivermectin or another chemical dewormer nobody would have questioned them - even though new studies are showing these chemicals are actually creating resistance and super-worms and potentially may be harming our animals. But irregardless nobody would have questioned them at all. But God forbid you say a herbal dewormer worked because that is snake oil BS and we all KNOW that doesn't work!

I love how dawg states unequivocally that it DOES NOT WORK and is WORTHLESS yet he provides no more evidence to this effect. He doesn't even state he has tried it and used it which I am quite confident he has not.

Then I read the skepvet article and yet again I find a person ranting about how it is snake oil but again providing NO EVIDENCE that he is right only a few fallacies and claims to the almighty infallibility of "modern medicine" which I conclude he means chemicals and drugs.

Now let me make it clear I am not bashing "modern medicine" or the use of drugs but why is it when it comes to medicine a product can had numerous side effects, cause numerous problems and have cited examples of ineffectiveness and YET still be the accepted procedure yet we automatically assume all herbal remedies are snake oil? And anyone who uses them with success is either a liar or it is a example of "anecdotes" as this idiot from skepvet says... and Yes I called him a idiot, why? Because a anecdote is a amusing story or unreliable account or hearsay. So he is saying if you believe this product or any herbal product works you are UNRELIABLE and cannot be trusted.

I am so sick of this belittling tactic, this idea that only a chemical produced in a lab could possibly be used. I have never used Verm-x but I do know that many of the ingredients have been used by vets for a very long time VERY EFFECTIVELY. It wasn't until the 80s that we even started using a lot of drugs and meds on our animals. There are several VET books from the early 1900s. In these books (can be searched on Google books) - they would use Cayenne to stop colic and it was very effective.

So I guess my point is, don't say something doesn't work when you have never tried it and have no personal experience or anything to back it up. That is ignorance! And don't accept what somebody says because they are a vet. I have seen vets misdiagnose a number of times, they are no infallible. We need to stop assuming that somebody with a degree is 100% truth and somebody without one is 100% error.

Having said all that many "natural" dewormers do NOT work because they are not well researched. But herbs that have been used for hundreds of years effectively cannot be just swept away by the word of some ignorant person who holds the world captive by a plaque on a wall. I respect drs and vets but not when they act like they know everything and are unwilling to be asked questions or research something out. When I bought my thoroughbred it was extremely restless, very pushy and had some minor gut imbalances. I told the owner I was switching her to organic feed, she said ohh that is stupid you will pay twice as much and they will not have balanced nutrition. Getting her off the GMO feed she immediately calmed down, she was less pushy and her gut issues disappeared completely. Now most people like this skepticvet would say that is absurd and unrelated. Not because of personal experience but because of a bias in their mind, a mental roadblock that prevents them from being honest and logical. Unfortunately much of the world suffers from this, on both sides of the fence.

I am sorry for the long rant. I just have seen too much to accept this kind of behavior. I am sick of hearing and seeing it. I am more than happy to have somebody question anything. Feel free to say hey I don't think that would work or I tried something similar and it didn't work but don't say it is worthless when you DON"T KNOW THAT AS FACT! We need to all be doing our own research and not relying on anyone else for our basis of fact.

SO, does Verm X work?????

Yes! I have had really good luck with it after a neighbor recommended it. Her fecals always came back clear, so I decided to give it a try and have had good results. That said, I also think how you keep chickens has a lot to do with it (i.e moving tractors/ cleaning coops weekly/ fly control). Chickens who continually return to areas with high concentrations of parasites will end up with some degree of infection no matter what you use.

I don't know, I haven't tried it yet. I am buying it to try. My point wasn't to say that it did worked, simply that a number of people who cannot be clearly tied to the product (such as affiliates) recommend it from personal experience.

But it has been known for hundreds if not thousands of years that Garlic, Cayenne, Cinnamon and Fennel create a hostile environment for parasites. So the mix sounds very legit to me. The only way it should not work is if it is either prepared wrong or as haycat said you aren't doing proper management alongside of it. But as far as ingredients go you can find these ingredients listed in old vet journals and books as effective. And they are time-tested.

Welcome to BYC! I suggest you have a fecal test done before and after treatment.

Hello, I use Verm-X on my birds and it has worked wonders. I have been keeping poultry for years and when I bought in some new ones a few years ago they were riddelled with worms and soon started passing them onto my other hens.
I also was recommended Verm-X, I used the liquid which was fed over 3 days and the worm counts dropped straight away. It did take another course then get rid of the worm completley but they looked fab and I was so happy it was so effective.
Good luck!
Where can i find verm x
