Very Basic Question

I have new chicks with mama's. I moved them into a cage in the coop while they are tiny (and the hens are still sitting). When can I let them out with the other chickens?
In other words, I am hoping I don't have to house them separately all summer!!!

SOME mamma hens will protect their babies pretty well against the other chickens until they are either accepted or old enough to escape/fend for themselves.

Others will not....

Id be a bit conservative on that one. Chickens can be quite rough on babies, even with mom there.
