I have read that Turken's lay 5 to 6 eggs a week
does anyone know anything about them
They lay very good, and of course tolerate heat like it's nothing, and lay and do great in subzero weather also.

I know they're ugly.
They are until you have some, they grow on you, pretty awesome 'exotic' birds, and the chicks are the darn cutist! ;)

I just found that out .
but I had a rooster .
so it did not make a differents .
So
I order him 2 hen's .
I guess the eggs .
I guess the eggs taste the same .
Of course they do. I'm very fond of my brown leghorns.....

:woot:thumbsup :ya :wee :yesss:
Naked neck Turkens are awesome  you'll love them. I got my start in them from Cackle Hatchery, they do have all three, male, female, and not sexed, straight run. I ordered a couple yrs ago 15 straight run, ended up with 13 pullets and two cockerels, bet that never happens again lol. I'll never have to buy them again anyway, hatched a lot with the incubator, and did have one go broody and hatch herself.

Brown leghorns lay white eggs.

Yup, all taste the same, look the same out of the egg in the frying pan also. Some people prefer brown eggs, those that prefer brown eggs IMHO it's just because they relate them with home grown eggs. I prefer brown eggs myself, but really no difference, I've had all colors, colorful egg basket is nice, Easter eggers for green (they lay great also) Wellsummers for dark brown spotted, lots of spots, brown eggs, and Brown Leghorns for white, the white makes all the other egg colors really stand out, and they lay great good birds, look actually just like the wellsummers, just a little smaller with bigger combs. I think you will like the brown leghorns, some people say they are 'flighty' just means they get up and go, no big deal, unless you want to hug all your birds. Huggable birds, no joke, some of my best layers ever and quickest to POL, not supposed to be, silkies, from TSC. They laid the earliest of any breed I've had, and lay great. Silkies are not supposed to, and these were big, so I think they have some leghorn crossed into them at some point.
Those naked neck turkens, also annoyingly friendly, right at my feet when I feed them, no fear, not 'flighty', annoyingly friendly for me.

All I have now, Jersey Giants, great layers of brown eggs and leave me alone, I like them, do their own thing, and my rooster is the best ever, huge big monster of a cool cock, and friendlier then the hens, great winter layers also.
And the naked neck turkens, coolest chickens ever.
All the other breeds recommended ............................
If I had the $$, I would have them all. No bad advice, all are awesome , :D
