A hub is the central receiving station for an area. From there letters get sorted and sent to the local post offices. If the delivery is slated for a weekend, or you're a long way from the hatchery (which I am) it may help to get the chicks to you 24 hours sooner. That can make a difference.
I don't know if you need to call Mc Murray. I did, just to make sure that I was still scheduled to receive chicks. With all of the hatcheries selling out so early this year I wanted to be sure I hadn't gotten bumped or lost in the shuffle.
It never hurts to let your local po know that you will be receiving chicks and make sure they have your number. Depending on where your hub is you could potentially save the chicks a hold over in a warehouse. They may come into the hub too late to go out that day. In that instance they would be better off if you did go get them. Thats just my opinion and what I would do. Have fun with your new fuzzie butts!
