We hatched 6 of our own chicken eggs this december. We have 1 rooster, an americauna, and several different hen breeds egyptian fayoumis, new hampshire reds, RIR, ect. We discovered that both egyptian fayoumi eggs we hatched are roosters because they started crowing when they were 1 month old! It's normal for fayoumi roosters to start crowing this early but most other breeds don't begin crowing until they are 4 or 5 months old. One of the other chickens that is NOT an egyptian fayoumi has started crowing!!! Has anyone heard of this? They are all from the same hatch just different breed eggs.
Check out the link of these young roosters. The orange chicken on the left is the non fayoumi rooster that has begun copying the fayoumi roosters.
