Very poorly 6 month amber white please help!

I think they mix the poop with a staining agent, then look at it microscopically and gram negative bacteria show up one color and positive another.

They are ungrateful aren't they? Lol. I'm glad she drank! Only us here can appreciate being happy over something so small. I hope she likes her friend who is her twin :) I never think of a mirror.

Oh yes I love catching Sassy (avatar) to kiss and cuddle him! He's a sweet little roo.

Hello, i am so sorry for not checking in sooner and updating...have been to sad to be honest :(... i kept on tube feeding with the kaytee's and she got no stronger and remained having no interest in her food and so i euthanised her (she was just skin and bone) :"(. i can honestly say never ever again. I chose to do it myself as thought it would stress her taking her to the vets etc. but afterwards my partner said to me, 'i think you're trying to be something you aren't' and she was right. i would love to be the person who can care for their animals and when the time comes be able to euthanise themselves, but i am far too soft... i think i will have to stick to caring for them and knowing when the time comes to say goodbye and then get someone else to do it for me. If any of you out there are thinking about taking the job on yourself, do be prepared that it is harder than you may anticipate (despite how much reading you do) and that in my opinion, in can make it harder to get over... Thank you all so much for all your support and advice and encouragement, you really helped me get through this and i've learnt so so so much, which has been invaluable. hugs to you all

I'm sorry about your girl, I know how horrible it is. Keeping chickens doesn't seem as easy as I thought when I read about them. I guess sometimes things happen and we just have to move on. I've lost 4 of my 8 to mareks. It's heartbreaking, I know. I took my last 2 to our humane shelter to put down. I can't cull myself, neither could my husband. I pay $25 to them and to me it's just worth it. I agree that it would make it much harder to deal with.

I'm hoping to add a couple more soon, I'm getting only vaccinated chickens and hopefully I can find some older ones who have had time to build up as much resistance as possible before they come to my house.

hugs to you!

Thank-you for the update. I'm sorry that your hen didn't make it. And kudos to you for being strong enough to go through with ending her suffering. I don't know that I could do it on a bird I wasn't attached to, let alone one that was part of the family. We are going to have to put down our cockerel this week. DH will probably do it, although I will offer to take him to our vet. It's never easy. This will be our seventh loss of nine. I guess we got the worst variety of Marek's.
