This is my Buff Orpington hen, Maude. Her comb and face and everything have always been very red, never changing colors to a lighter pink color, unlike her buff sister, E.B (on the right in the picture below). In the below picture, E.B's comb is slightly lighter than Maude's, but I've seen her comb lighter. (This was also before E.B was about to lay an egg, too).
Maude's comb grew oddly shaped and wavy, and it appears the spike on the back of her head isn't completely sticking out, but more of kinda "jammed" in her head. Jammed seems too much of a harsh word, considering it doesn't seem to hurt her and it doesn't look irritated (other than the whole think looking red). She isn't laying yet, but I think she will soon. I thought maybe that was the reason her comb was so red, but it was like this way before. She doesn't act sick or anything. Is this natural? Will her weird comb cause a problem? Thanks.
On an unrelated topic, she also has bad aim. If I have something kinda small in my hand, or if I stick a blade of grass out for her, she has a very hard time grabbing it. She will bite under it. I'm not worried about it, I'm just curious if that is normal among some chickens or if I just picked a very weird chick out of the bunch, lol.
