Very sad day... I lost 12 Ancona ducks to hunters on POSTED land.

We have had issues with poachers on our land, even though it is "posted". We have signs everywhere, and they seem to be nothing but an eyesore. These people don't care if its private property or not.

I'm so sorry for your loss!
We live in Prime Hunting Territory with Migrating birds (Geese, ducks, and etc.) that land in huge flocks in harvested fields to try to find something to eat. We also have quite a few lakes and ponds around here.
Every hunting season I put tarps around the pens, it helps keep some of the wind and cold out but most importantly no hunters can "accidently" shoot them since we are surrounded by fields out here.

Let this be a hard lesson for everyone to be more catious around Hunting season(s.)

Again, Sorry for your loss.

....are you seriously suggesting that the perpetrators were Chinese, because 'they have a lot of duck dishes'? So, in your mind, owning a Chinese food restaurant is enough to make you a suspect in 'pet poaching', am I reading that right?

What happened here was a reckless and thoughtless act. Suggesting the people responsible are of a certain ethnicity, with no facts to support this viewpoint, is overtly racist, pure and simple, especially when you add hearsay about people of this same ethnicity 'poaching game and road kill' to serve in a restaurant.

Are you suggesting that only people of Chinese descent own Chinese restaurants?

She didn't say anything about any particular group of PEOPLE, she referred only to a type of restaurant. Geez.

very sorry of your loss

I can see a law has been broken and arrests shuld be made

i am not is USA but found this about posted land laws

so sorry to hear about your ducks! I can't believe someone would just go and shoot like that! It's obvious that they weren't wild ducks either! I hope they get caught! How is your dog handling it? I'm sure he wonders what happened to the other ducks?

Hunting season is always a dangerous time for us here in Quebec.
My children always wear bright red anoraks and snow suits to reduce the probability they will be caught up in a nasty accident with trespassing hunters. There are too many reports of accidental deaths in upstate New York, northern Vermont, and southern Quebec- and here I mean people. I too have signs all throughout my woods and whatnot but I still find that this does not deter men (judging from the size of the boot prints) from walking onto my property uninvited.
I am sorry for your loss.

I have posted my forest land with "Caution, Private Shooting Range" signs. People are funny, If they believe they'll be the ones to pay for the disobedience, they're much less likely to ignore the signs....
