This is my first posting on this thread because so far, knock on wood, I havent had any issues.
However, within the past 4 days, my once VERY active Polish Roo, has been lethargic, disinterested in " HIS GIRLS", and just falls asleep where ever he is in the yard.
His girls would run circles around him trying to get him to interact with them.
He Always would find treats for them and round them up , one by one, and in the order HE wants, he will make them go up into their nice , enclosed , nest box area ..tucking them in..
Now, we have been having ALOT Of wind, and where I live, back in the woods, Pine cones are always dropping , and Hard..
I have Not witnessed him getting hit by one.
Today...my son was cleaning the yard, when one of the heavy Pallets Ive been working on turning into a little storage shed, was blown over by a 40 mph wind gust, Trapping my sweet RoBY THEo, underneath it!!
My son ran over and lifted the pallet off him , and looked him over, and didnt find anything obvious.
Now, just like the past few days, he just Falls asleep , Anywhere, Anytime, and in ANY position, while his girls go running around not being " Disciplined" by him..
He does wake up and run around looking for his girls , finds them, then ..BOOM, back asleep.
My son and I had to " round up" his girls , up their ladder and into their "bedroom" , all the while, Phil, My roo, would just stand around or run Underneath their bedroom, Not seeming to " care " what happened to the girls..
So,
can chickens get "CONCUSSIONS" and if they do, do I try to " Keep him awake" like they say to do with humans ???
I do hope I hear some encouraging news from BYC'ers, saying that its Ok for a Roo to " doze " , alot..
OH..BTW...
I do want to mention that he is very active in the mornings, like usual, but as the day wears on, later in the afternoon, is when he starts his " Naps ", if that helps anyone..
Thank you so much,
Im so scared..
