My chicks have a very bad skin rash it almost looks as if they were burned but I know they weren't bc the light is high enough and the box is covered with a screen please help me I don't know if it's a disease or what any ideas?!?!?!,

Do you have a thermometer on the floor of the brooder in the hottest area to check the temperature? Can you post a picture of the rash? With heat lamps, they need to be at least 18 inches from the chicks, and then raised to adjust temp to 90 degrees the fist week, 85 degrees the second week, and so on. In a warmer room, they can be too warm, and a regular light bulb may be less hot.

I feel terrible they seem healthy besides that heavy breathing while there sleeping though

This is my light set up as you can see the lights are pretty high up

What are you using on brooder floor? How hot is wire mesh surrounding brooder? Are you using metal bowls? Looks like some sort of burn. Clean skin with cool water(NOT cold) or hold a cool compress to skin.

Saw photo and mesh is a lid,so burn is not from that. What is your brooder temp? Is this on all chicks?

No metal bowls plastic I have 6 other chicks and none of them have this either and until I noticed this they were all kept together any thing else I can do besides the cool water ?

So it is just one chick,is she eating/drinking/pooping? Something has irritated her skin,is skin just red or are there any wounds, were the other chicks laying on her? Just use cool water to clean area, make sure she is eating/drinking/pooping. Make sure no other chicks(including herself)are pecking/picking at area.

You mentioned heavy breathing, explain what you are referring to.
