Below is a rooster demonstrating a potential nest site to pullet wanting to lay egg. I called out the hen was wanting to lay an egg based on sounds she made and her behavior. Rooster realized same and got to work. At one point 20 people where following the pair around during the nest selection process. Note sound.

I love that sound! I have a Cream Legbar rooster that loves to "suggest" that hens adopt his chosen nest locations in tight corners of the run, outside the runs where two coops are joined, and on occasion, they will actually select a regular nest box, hoping the hens will think he's wonderful for such terrific nest choices. Hens fall for it every time, proving hens are easy to impress.

I always tell the girls to not listen to the knuckleheads because they always pick lousy sites. I think they're just trying to impress the the ladies.
