I have my first hatch due in about a week. The breeder who sent me the eggs suggests putting a small amount of vinegar in the drinking water (1 tbl per gallon of water). Is this common? I have never heard of that and wonder if I should do this. thanks.

I use ACV in all my waterers...chickens, cows, goats, ducks, rabbits, dogs, cats....um I think that's it, lol.

Never Heard Of It Personally. I Know Folks That Add Sugar To The Water Early On, But Have Never Heard Of Vinegar?

Other than shifting the PH level of the water (in the dose mentioned) a little bit...Nothing, but is 100% harmless.

I use ACV to prevent sour crop. Before using it, my hens were always swallowing and had horrible smelling breath and poo. Now, nothing!!! They also have shinner feathers and have put on more weight.

It can also be used to add in calcium absorption as well as other things.
