Vinegar

Well, some of us pour a bit of cider vinegar in the water to inhibit growth of unwanted microorganisms - the waterer, I mean, not in the bird. I do that only in hot weather, personally. Other uses?

I thought that it also prevents/ cures sour crop?

I have used ACV
great for keeping flies and such away from their waterer
I also rinse the waters every so often. Great to keep bacteria away better then bleach.and its healthy
even for humans .I raised my flock on
A teaspoon in a gal. of water.
year round.

I love how I learn new things every day on BYC ~ well... every day I get on here..lol ~ I have been TRYING to curb the addiction ( only check twice a day....lol...lol...) :-D

Can you use the regular store bought ACV or do you have to get the sediment ACV at the health food store?

Thanks for the ideas.

We clean our water containers with ACV but the chickens don't like it in the water , no they didn't tell me that:rolleyes:, they just drink very little out of the container with the ACV.

I just found some ACV with sediment, only I had to get it at the health food store & it was on sale for over $5.00! One of those glass taller jars (can't think of the measurement). With only adding 1 t. that should last a while & the chickens are worth it!

Why can't you use the grocery store bought ACV w/out sediment?
