I tend to believe that ACV may give an immune system boost. I may be wrong, but it has come in handy so far. I'll use a teaspoon/splash of the organic 'mother' ACV in a hatchling's water or for a sick hen in the winter. It's been doing no harm for a good 6 years now.

I only have anecdotal proof of this, but I think a little ACV in the water helps little chicks. No poopy butt. However, I only use a very small amount, so it may not be enough to really make a difference.

I agree with both @Shadrach and @aart , the only time I use ACV is if I think my prairie chickens have thrush. Prairies are very susceptible to thrush in extremely hot weather conditions.
