Violetsfeathers Flock

Hmmm....the youngest are 13 weeks, the middles are 14, and the oldest are 15. :)  How old are yours?
I love speckly ones! Every so often, one of the Easter Eggers (I'm thinking it's Jaylin) throws her usual green eggs, but with chocolate speckles. Chocolate mint flavored, yum! :drool :lau

Another question: do your little boys sound like squeaky toys when they crow? Pirahna and Joel, who are both d'Uccles, sure do.   Real tough and intimidating, you know.

(Sorry I forgot to answer)
Mine will be seven weeks Wednesday :)

Pretty egg! I'd like to have a blue Americana? A blue chicken with fluffy cheeks that lays blue eggs.

No, mine aren't really squeaky, (I'm sure they are VERY intimidating :lau ) I have two Mille Fluer hens, very sweet, and a half Mille Fluer/buff brahma bantam cockerel, he wasn't squeaky when he started crowing though.

Good grief, those are some young crowers!

Mine didn't start until about 13-14 weeks.

I've got one of those Blue Ameraucanas, actually. NOT cheap!

She's super duper ugly, though, because she's got crossbeak.
Maybe my guys are just wimps.

Yeah, I love Mille Fleur d'Uccles to the moon and back, especially the cockerels.

I scoop them up and snuggle with them, ha ha!

I know! The boys are already getting rooster-looking feathers!

I got one egg yesterday (weird) and eight eggs today.

Ginger and Speckles (the five year olds) ganged up on marshmallow yesterday, there was a little blood on her feathers but I couldn't find a wound anywhere.

Hmmmmm.....that's odd. We've got about 25 hens and 5 ducks, and we're not even collecting a dozen a day?

They range in age from 1 1/2 years to a little under a year. My guess is maybe impending molt.

Oh no, that's awful!

It's always the docile breeds that get the brunt of the bullying.

I was gone trail riding all day so I put the marshmallow in with the chicks so she is safe.
When we were riding I found a hurt eastern kingbird, it's sitting in the car now while we eat lunch

The bird died overnight. She was eating and drinking and pooping well, I don't know what happened...
Oh dear, I'm so sorry!

At least you were taking good care of it until the end.

My uncle is raising a baby grackle right now, and it's getting to the point where it'll snuggle into his neck.
