Good to know!

Thanx!

Hi all!

Anyone in the near by area raise some ducks as well as chickens? I need a few females for my bachelors Maxwell (Khaki Campbell) and Martin (Cayuago) drakes.

I am on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

I like to take the kids to Kiptopeke beach. It is small but not as crazy as the beach to the North of us. I am about 30-45 minutes away from Kiptopeke. I used to work with the dental program they had for the Northampton Couny school system. I loved Kiptopeke elementary school the most. The campground looks great down there. Have you ever tried to go camping at Cherrystone? Supposedly that is the place to camp. Mu husband used to go as a kid and he said it was fantastic then but they have improved so much since then as well. (so I hear from lots of friends that camp there often)

Hello from Grayson County. Don't know if it's OK to post this here, but...

I have three black australorp hens hatched late last summer for sale, $12 each. These young hens are healthy and laying great, I just need to downsize. I also have a BA cockerel that I am planning to eat, but I would consider selling him, too, if anyone's interested.

These are for pickup, or I could meet someone in another SWVA location.

I also have BA and RIR chicks available, $2.50 each.

I also have a few (6) Channing Grisham line 3-week-old Welsummer chicks that I would consider selling, asking about $8 each for those.

PM or email me if interested.

Thanks,
Jonathan

I'm new here, we're from Bishop, VA which is not too far from West VA in coal country

Not sure but how far are you from Tazewell County? That's where we are.

My oldest brother kept a boat at the marina near Cherrystone and spent a couple of months there every summer. We came down whenever we could and camped there with him and his family in his HUGE motor home. It was like camping at a hotel. I am unusual in that I like to tent camp, and I like to camp where it is more natural. I am an avid birder, so I try to go in October during the Eastern Shore Birding and Wildlife Festival when the CVWO is doing the songbird banding at Kiptopeke. Since I am an older (61) single female, I usually have to go alone--my friends are not too keen on tent camping. The first year I camped there for a week alone, I met a lot of people because they couldn't resist coming by my campsite to see if an older woman was really tent camping by herself. They were quick to let me help with the banding. That's my kind of camping! In the years I have been going, I have met so many friendly, down to earth people on the Eastern Shore--that's why I love to go.

I'm here in Gore VA, Frederick County. My DH pretty much ignores the chickens, but has no problem frying up a couple eggs for breakfast! We also raise cocker spaniels and Brittanys, and quail to train the birddogs. Our project this spring (MY project, that is!) is to build separate pens for each breed - just waiting for the weather to co-operate.

Williamsburg/ New Kent area.... Looking for a rooster. I have 9 whiterock/ rhode island reds. Any suggestions on what kind of rooster, or I it's a bad idea to get one? I think my girls are 6 or 7 weeks.
