New to the boards. I live in Nelson Co. VA. I am the proud "mama" to six new chicks. DH and I revamped our old coop this weekend. We had a RIR roo for seven years. He passed away last fall---natural causes. Miss him!! He was beautiful bird. My friends thought he was the coolest thing. He free ranged most of his life. We had 23 chickens and 3 RIR roos at on time.

I am trying to keep my "flock" small, but it's hard after reading everyone's stories and seeing pics!!

Yeah where is Russell county? We are in Rockingham, up north and west in the Shenandoah Valley. Glad to see more Virginians out here!!
