Thanks Kay,
This is one of the ones that I worked so hard to save (back a few months ago) and I don't think I can let him go. Same old story - he's the one who comes to sit with me, pecks my fingers if I pet someone else, etc... You never know what's gonna happen though. And I had no intention of even thinking about raising chicks for at least a year. Guess the best idea will be to just enjoy the flock as they are and see where we are in a year.
I know what you're saying about the eggs. I was hoping - in that 'somewhere far in the future' kind of way - to get a Polish roo one day to maybe add poofy topknots without changing egg color much. I kept thinking how cute an EE with a topknow and a beard would be.

i've got a blue/red oddball chick that was supposed to be purebred ameraucana, ended up turning into a mutt. blue am x silkie. LOL cute as a button, small pouf with beard and muffs. can't wait to see how she turns out. oh and feathered feet too.
