Visited by a mountain lion....scary!

Would flood lights and a radio playing near the coop help keep a cougar away? We don't have them in my area, so I don't really have any proven ideas for how to keep them away. It's a shame they are dangerous to our pets. Otherwise, they would be such amazing creatures to have around. Personally, I would try lights, a radio, peeing around the coop and property, and maybe a REALLY large dog. Perhaps a gun with rubber bullets to sting it a couple of times will make it stay away.

Here's a picture of a cougar that was taken in the Oregon Coast Range just west of Corvallis in September. The guy in the picture is a bit over 6' tall. The 7 year old tom weighed 140 pounds. The average weight for Oregon cougars (toms) is 100 pounds.
The record cougar (tom) taken in eastern Oregon Cascade Mt. Range is 220 pounds.

I do keep my lights on now and a radio and rubber bullets are also very good ideas. My son also started peeing/marking our property line yesterday....he's 9 so it is one of his chores now...he's in heaven! I also keep my 105 lb lab inside now at night. Thanks for all the great ideas.....keep'em coming!
