Thanks that would be great. I only need about 6. I want to keep the chick count on the low side cause every chick that grows up to lay eggs sends another hen to freezer camp.
I purposely avoided looking at it, but watched it on TV as Channel 3 had live shots all through whatever they were programming. (At my age I value my eyesight and want to keep it as long as possible) The shadows cast by the eclipse were kind of trippy....kind of like something out of "Fringe."
What's really funny is that my dogs did not want to go outside AT ALL during the eclipse.
I wonder if any roosters got confused and started crowing?
We actually forgot about the eclipse and missed the whole darn thing! What a bummer!
Man, it was hot today and promises to be hotter tomorrow. I'm not looking forward to that. As it is, the poor things are panting away in the shade. I'm stocking their water with 2 liter bottles of ice and will probably toss them some frozen veggies too. I wish I could do more but that's it for now. I am going to mix some of their food, grains and water in some recycled cool whip bowls, put the lids on and put them in the freezer. After it's frozen I can just pop it out of the bowl and leave it in their run for them to peck at.
Thanks so much for the eggs, muckmuck and Holly31!!! I set them in with the broodies tonight. It was great to meet you and talk chicken! Max, my mom was soooo embarrassed that she got you wet. I hope you didn't take offense! It was so nice of you to drop the eggs off. I will let you both know how things turn out with hatch rates etc.
I'm so happy to see that I'm not the only one in Las Vegas!
I didn't get to see the eclipse, my husband and I went to a show. That's so strange that your dogs didn't want go outside, I wonder what mine did. As of so far my girls are loving the heat but I'm sure that is because it's under the shade ^^
Welcome AleCat22!!! Great to see some more locals! What part of town are you in? My girls are all panting like mad! I went in the run and sprayed down all the surfaces trying not to get the ground wet. I learned the hard way that water in the run equals very bad smells! I did a light mist over the girls and gave them extra fresh water. It must have worked cuz they finally stopped panting. Poor things! They do have shade but need some evaporative cooling I guess.
