Viva Las Vegas!

Awesome Juney! They look great; the true blues are the darker blue with the lacing on the feathers. I can't tell from the pictures but that kind of looks like that? Glad you guys ate having fun- put up some pics of the coop!
Well then, since some of the roos are gone now, I have 2 true blue hens and 1 who is very grey with no lacing. I thought she would be the true blue. Also have 2 black girls. I rescued 6 from a repo'd house. (I quarentined for 45 days) There's that chicken math at work. They have a coop nearby now but I can't bring myself to mix them in yet (all that pecking). Need to post pics of them too, I can't figure out what kind they are. We are in the process of fencing off some gardens in the chicken area, when that's done I'll take some pics.

I'm selling what I think will be roos, light brahma's about 4 weeks old. These are NOT hatchery birds but flown in from KY. I don't think they were handled a lot before I got them so will need someone who will take the time with them. Gentle but a bit flighty. Will post some pics this evening. $10.00 each.

They could be hens but unlikely that's why I'm selling as roos.

Will have some pullets in a couple of weeks when I can decide who I want to keep. These girls will be $20.00 each.

Ive decided to sell these boys for $5.00 each as I would really like to place them.

I am still looking to place my male brahma's and am giving them away. I have 4 to place. They started on medicated feed but I have switched over to organic, non gmo/soy feed from Modesto Milling. The birds are housed in a large run and are out every day to forage in my yard. Came from an NPIP farm.

Will place individually but would prefer to place in pairs.

Hello from a wannabe chicken keeper,
I just moved to a wonderful horse property near Tropicana and Boulder. I'm currently getting my garden planted out and I was interested in keeping chickens for eggs, starting with 4-6 hens. I'm not that handy when it comes to building things and I was wondering if anyone had recommendations on someone in the area who builds chicken coops and runs. I'll be getting my tax return soon and this is at the top of my list to purchase. I'll be looking to buy some feathered friends after I get my coop set up and I'm looking to get to know the chicken keeping community here in Las Vegas. :) Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome,

I dont know of anyone who specifically makes coops. Ive seen some from Craigslist but I think they are from other states and just post. I made my own run out of pvc which has worked pretty well for me. The cost to have someone do it for me was cost prohibitive so I just bit the bullet, watched some Youtube and gave it a shot.

Chicken keeping is addictive so be prepared to have lots of fun with your birds.

Thank you Barb,

I've been thinking about making my own or maybe getting a prefab coop and run to assemble but I am really bad with that kind of thing, lol! I'm almost done getting my garden back together after moving so I will have a little more time to focus on other projects with a coop being at the top of my list. I'm kind of a learn by seeing examples and hands on kinda girl, so seeing other people's setups would help me alot.

New member in North Las Vegas. We have 6, two week old pullets. You should be able to see our chicks in my albums. Just finshed the hen house and the run. I may have over constructed it but I wanted it to be really strong and last a good amount of time. Its all 2 x 4 construction with 3" deck screws and wood glue in every joint. I went through about 3000 staples stretching the wire on. I will be setting up a gravity feed water system that will be hooked up to on-demand drinkers. I had chickens when I was young and I love that I can now pass this on to my kids too.

Happy Easter everyone!

Update:
Looks like the permanent move is (finally) happening. Quick recap: Mom passed away a year ago March and since then my life was upended with getting her estate squared away (multiple properties that needed clearing out which were located out of state, estate sales, auctions, real estate transactions, yada yada) and then, to frost my own cupcake, I bought a farm property in desperate need of rehab and updating and have spent spare time (?!?!) summer and winter making it livable. Today I am faced with a canyon of boxes and a UHaul in the driveway tomorrow for the first of many trips. Funny, I told my husband I didn't want to spend another sweltering summer in Las Vegas. Little did I know my year's physical endeavors would have me sweating more than any season here ever has.

I am SO excited to be able to have a chicken coop at the new place...spare time has been spent sketching as the land is already cleared for construction. That and hatching again... Hey, Tracy, how's the egg color on the Wheaten Marans? Is it noticeably darker than other eggs? I'm contemplating some for my flock.

Hope everybody's doing well and enjoying the day.

I have (4) 2 mo old LF light brahma pullets for sale. Had them shipped in from KY and thought brahmas were for me. Guessed wrong. They are on organic feed and doing well. Been outside for a while now.

$15.00 each or all 4 for $50.00
