Viva Las Vegas!

Thank you everyone for the great ideas about beating the heat :) I didn't know you could search the fourms, good to know! I started using the frozen water jugs and frozen watermelon right away. Also I found this great idea on YouTube and the chickens are not panting now, which is great! They were all standing on the bricks before I opened the door to take the pic. The water cools the bricks and the bricks cool the chickens :) I plan on getting a fan in there too soon.

Mine were panting so bad! They didn't come on it at first, but then I lured them there with the watermelon. Now they spend a lot of time there. I froze several disposable aluminum cake pans of water. Now when I go out in the morning I just pop one of those out, it's basically an ice brick, and put it under the bricks before I add some water. When I come back in the afternoon there is still some ice left on the ice brick and the water is nice and chilly and the bricks are cool. And so are the chickens :) I'm so glad I found this.

I thought I could take my Hovabator with me to FL but cant really find a place for it. I am leaving tomorrow JUNE 02 and its free to someone who can come and get it today. Its just the bator not the turner that died with the last hatch. It has forced air and thermostat

Im over off Westcliff and Teneya.

I'll be glad to take it!!

Thank you so much for posting this!! I love the things I learn on this site. I will be implementing this for my girls when we come back. We are packing up and heading to Utah for the summer. Yay! So glad to leave the heat! I almost lost a girl the other day so the sooner the better.

I really liked that you showed us how you adapted the system to your needs. Great job!

Boo! Sad I missed out on this. Congrats 702marine.

We just installed misters in our outdoor run. Wow! What a difference! 5 mister heads about 3 ft off the ground. The ice cubes were a great idea, but a little too labor intensive for me.
